Week One Update

1/29/18

Week 1 ( January 22-28):

Emotional Wellness- I tried to do the daily affirmations regularly, but ultimately I forgot a couple of days. (Five out of seven days isn't bad!)
  • Pros: ??
  • Cons: If I'm in a rush before work, I tend to skip this for the day. I'm not sure this is having much affect on my emotional well-being. Maybe I should try repeating the phrases multiple times?
Intellectual Wellness- I surprisingly enjoyed reading this week, and had nearly 3 hours total tracked.
  • Pros: I look forward to reading, which is a complete turnaround from the norm. I find a sense of peace when I read.
  • Cons: It was a little difficult to read on the weekend. Generally I read on my lunch hour at work, but I had to make a conscience effort to set time aside on off days.
Social Wellness- This one was a big fail, unless you count occasional texting with my sister and bestie. I had planned to call someone that lives too far away to visit in person, but just kept putting it off and eventually it escaped my mind all together. I will try harder to accomplish this goal on week 2.
  • Pros: N/A
  • Cons: N/A
Physical Wellness- I've done better than expected at reaching my daily 80oz water requirement. The goal was to drink 560oz total over 7 days, I came in a little short at 532oz.
  • Pros: I've noticed my skin and lips are more hydrated, and 'm not super parched upon waking up. I've also noticed I'm more regular. (Sorry if that's TMI, but I promised to be honest with you guys!)
  • Cons: I use the bathroom A LOT. I've read that your body eventually adjusts to drinking all of this water and you don't use the facilities as much, so I'm hoping that comes soon. On the days that I drank 80oz or more, I found there was no room to drink anything else. It took me all day to drink the required ounces and I was so full that I wasn't able to enjoy a glass of wine here and there.
All in all, this was a pretty good week. I tried to incorporate some additional healthy habits into Week 1 with little avail. So, for now I will stick to the original plan of keeping things simple. I hope that Week 2 will produce positive results as well.
